The Solarflares
Available from AdVic Records; The unfound talent that is Graham Day returns with his latest project The Solarflares. After fronting one of the most influential bands of the 80s The Prisoners, then that great garage band The Prime Movers, before going Acid Jazz with Planet. Day has resurfaced with old cohorts Allan Crockford (Prisoners, Goodchilde) and Wolf Howard (JTQ) to produce what I think is his best work since the Prisoners.
Cant get you out of my mind ! / Lunar girl. (Twist 00) Great snarling vocals and two tracks that could of featured on The Last Fourfathers. £4
Reflections / Open your eyes (Twist 01) 2 more great Day originals that will be be disregarded by the music press. £4
That was then...and thisis now (Twist 00) 2nd LP from the band. Fay Day (Makin Time, Prime Movers) guests on some tracks. 12 more original tracks mixing 60s garage, rock and psychedelic grooves. £11 LP

Solarflares - Can't get you out of my mind |
|
AdVic Records was set up in May 2002, in order to sell the collection of records that I had been amassing for 16/17 years.
They range from the not so rare to the very rare and are a result of years of buying the discs in various clubs and Mod rallies. The main places I used to buy were the Untouchables Rallies and clubs of the 90s - places like Drummonds, Circles and the 100 club all-nighters. Another good source was Reading's infamous Kings Tavern on a Sunday night. (This club is now defunct but was in my opinion the most authentic Mod club of the 90s).
So thank you and farewell to these records and the DJs who played them and influenced me to buy them - Smiler, Rob Bailey, Ian Jackson, Speed, Pid and Tony Class.
Good hunting,
Adam Cooper.
